"Religion" And Indigenous Peoples
“Religion” and Indigenous Peoples
Prior to columbus washing up onto Great Turtle Island (misnomer “western hemisphere”), Indigenous Red “Indian” Nations and Peoples lived beautiful Ways of Life in harmony with nature. Their daily lives were not divided or separated into the categories of “time, work, play, religion, vacation.” As prevalent within the societies exploiting the world’s people and resources today, governmental ‘control’ creates discontent, unhappiness, fosters alcohol/drug use and a desire to escape responsibility and reality through such ‘escapes’ as “religion.”
There was no word in Indigenous languages for “clock” in 1492, as there was no want or need to be controlled by “time” when people were truly free. Summer and fall food gathering and drying allowed for a warm, plentiful and joyous winters for Indigenous Red Nations prior to the columbus invasion. There was no stress such as those present in today’s world; paying the rent, lights, and gas bills, worrying about the safety of the children getting run over by cars, falling victim to abuse and neglect.
It remains true that the Nakota (N/DN/D/Lakota; misnomer “Sioux”) Nation did not have a religion. The Nakota language is free of the words “god” or “prayer.” However, crying - a sincere ‘from-the-heart’ offering of thanksgiving and appreciation to Grand Mother Earth and Grand Father Sky is a true aspect of Indigenous spirituality.
Before columbus or the slave owners and suicide-committers “Clark and Lewis” came to the northern great plains region, the DaNakota had no prior belief in a “religion” or that an “invisible man in the sky watched their every move” and “might send them to a miserable, hot place forever” if they didn’t “believe in him” or follow a book allegedly “written by him” (but that the invisible man “truly loved them”).
An example of Nakota “thanksgiving/appreciation” exercises a ceremony of the Sacred Canunpa (misnomer “pipe/peace pipe”) called “Hanble Ceya” or “Crying For A Vision At Night”; also known as “fasting on a hill.” An individual is left free from all other human contact for at least one complete night and day (oftentimes four nights and four days) - naked, without food or water - with only the sacred hide of an animal like the Ptehcaka “Buffalo” Robe to sit upon and a sacred Eagle Feather or Canunpa in hand.
The Hanble Ceya allows an individual to begin to understand and appreciate water, food, shelter, and all the great gifts of nature afforded to humankind upon the sacred Unci Maka “Grand Mother Earth.” The Canunpa ceremonies insure respect for Earth and Sky and prevent those who practice from any desire to exploit the sacred Grand Mother.
It is believed that all races of human kind lived “like Indians” ten thousand years ago, with their personal hunting/gathering responsibilities met by each individual, respect of sacred fire place – living with nature, without the controls of one man over another. But there was a major (and quite successful) attempt 10,000 years ago to rid the world of the understanding that the Earth is “Grand Mother Earth”. At this time, money, greed, domesticated animals, land ownership and religion were invented. This negative, male-dominating system is known as the “pyramid hierarchy system”. In 1492, this terrible system contaminated the eastern shores of Great Turtle Island and spread across the country like a terrible plague.
Ignoring and disregarding Grand Mother Earth – the overall disrespect of the female gender – is crucial for the existence of the destructive “pyramid hierarchy”, which systems are today “led” by kings, presidents, prime ministers, chairmen, chiefs, dictators, gods, and other male figureheads. The denial of Grand Mother Earth is used to facilitate the exploitation and abuse of the “global object.” To make way for exploitation of resources and power over the masses by a few greedy ones, Grand Mother Earth must become an object, a “globe”, a mere “planet.”
Many “Sioux Indians” have been forced into “christianization” as attempts to occupy their land and gold reserves (and now coal) have been taking place over the recent 150 years. Many were manipulated into believing in a “god” or a male “higher power.” This plays into the religious sanctioning of greed and exploitation.
In the Lakota language there is no word for “god”, so “great spirit” or “tunkasila” (the Lakota word for “grandfather”) was implemented as such among “christianized Indians.” Most don’t even realize this oppressed condition exists within them, as even today many Lakota claim to be “traditional” and separate and distinct from the “white man”, yet they still pray to a “god/tunkasila” – embracing the foreign, alien concept.
The “religious” issue is a touchy subject because many remain in the learned “denial” mode and must “justify” their dysfunctions so as not to be “shattered” by reality. Many get “angry” when they begin to hear the truth about their situation, instead of being open minded and willing to always learn and grow at any age as they proceed, hopefully, towards wisdom.
The Nakota were satisfied and appreciated Nature and all of the Great Mystery. They did not have to try to dissect or study the molecular structure of a blade of grass or warm summer breeze to be content and to try to find themselves or the meaning of life.
They often say people “need an education.” Yet it is believed that the best education is experienced from nature and the wisdom of the old people and new born babies.
There remains, however, an understanding among a few regarding the importance of balance within Indigenous communities through the recognition of Grand Mother Earth and Grand Father Sky, which make up “Wakan Tanka” – the “Great Mystery” (“All That Is”).
Many Indigenous Peoples today Cry For A Vision for which to help their people and practice the ways of the sacred Canunpa. Ceremonies occur daily across Great Turtle Island by sincere Indigenous Peoples trying to make their lives better. Imagine how strong these will become once they became total exercises of thankfulness and appreciation to Grand Mother Earth and Grand Father Sky, instead of thoughts and requests in honor of a man-made “god.”
Remove “god” To Regain Health
Another key factor remains untapped which will insure the health of the Nakota. The Ihanktunwan DaNakota Nation (“Yankton Sioux Tribe”) is the last remaining band of the Nakota who have managed to preserve and maintain “Oyate Omniciye”, Nakota for “Circle Meeting of the People”. Through Oyate Omniciye governing (called “General Council”) all adults of the Nation, both men and women – all with equal voice - gather to discuss and take action upon a particular subject, with the final decision becoming the “supreme law of the land.”
In 1934 congress adopted an illegal “Indian Reorganization act” which removed females from the governing circles of most Indigenous Nations and replaced their legitimate democracies with male dominating, puppet governments who now dictate to their apathetic citizenry.
Oyate Omniciye is true democracy, where the people rule. Practiced in its true form, it insures balance, contentment and happiness within family, community and, therefore, nation. It is a daily life practice or exercise of male and female balance just as is the Canunpa and the balance afforded once the bowl and stem join together for one of the Seven Sacred Ceremonies.
Participation in open, female-inclusive, religion-free Canunpa Ceremonies and active participation in Oyate Omniciye are crucial to Nakota wellness. Hopefully someday soon great pilgrimages will take place as the “Tetunwan” Lakota bring tobacco offerings to an Ihanktunwan Oyate Omniciye Meeting and ask for guidance as they begin efforts to reestablish their ancient, traditional Oyate Omniciye’s within each of their communities back home.
“Wal-Mart in the Sky”
To many Indigenous Red People, the store chain known as “Wal-Mart” is considered “Indian Heaven.” In the past, great herds of Elk and Buffalo served as the Indian’s “Wal-mart.” Today, they are forced to shop at wal-mart.
Mocking the ignorance of american belief in a fantasical “god” thing, the Lakota would say “Happy Hunting Grounds” – meaning they thought it ridiculous to hunt on this earth, then go to “heaven” only to “hunt again?!?!?” What would be the big difference? The intent of the term “Happy Hunting Grounds” reflects the belief by the Lakota that this life is sacred and the earth and all of nature must be respected and viewed as holy.
False claims of a “heaven” or “hell” only create controversy, judgment of others by their fellow human, lead to great crusades and wars for the exploitation of labor and resources and keep “believers” ignorant to reality.
It is ironic that simple things are replaced with technical nonsense. When a person views the 1851 Treaty of Fort Laramie or the U.S. Constitution, they may or may not believe it – yet it is a real document and actually exists. However many who don’t believe in the documents can believe in an instant in a fantasy “man in the sky” who made everything and who watches over each and every one of them. Selective beliefs in fantasy find psychotic individuals harming nature and other life forms – backed by their “higher power” beliefs. The ludicrousness of thinking in wayward minds about something so totally outside the realm of all reality is a great concern to the natural world, which remains in jeopardy and danger because of it.

Mass Shootings Today and Yesterday
Mass Shooting Largest Since Wounded Knee, 1890
April 17, 2007
(API)
A 23 year old Virginia Tech University senior student from South Korea, Cho Seung-Hui, was behind the mass killing shooting spree of 32 fellow students and faculty who were trapped inside a campus building that Seung-Hui had chained shut. It was the deadliest shooting rampage in 117 years since the December 29, 1890 massacre of 453 innocent Lakota “Sioux” at Wounded Knee by United States army soldiers.Ballistics tests also show that one of the guns inside that building was used in another shooting two hours earlier, at a dorm, Virginia State Police said. It is unclear how authorities could allow a two hour span to occur before the shooter struck again – just five minutes from the first shooting.
Cho Seung-Hui was a student in the English department at Virginia Tech and lived on campus. During the past two weeks, false-alarm bomb threats had been called into the university and it is yet unknown if the threats were a precurser to the April 16th shooting.
In December of 1890, a U.S. army cavalry unit molested a peaceful group of Lakota near Wounded Knee Creek in present day southwestern South Dakota, stripped searched and removed even sewing needles and awls - then secretly opened fire at dawn as the victims slept with Hotchkiss guns placed on the ridges above and servicemen carbines firing at ground level – causing the murder of 453 innocent civilians. It is believed the mass murder of the Lakota paved the way to establish the state of South Dakota for the United States government. No charges were brought against the perpetrators of the genocidal action – in fact, two-dozen “medals of honor” were awarded to many of the u.s. army veterans and cavalry who committed the atrocities.

Bureau of Caucazoidal Affairs
The “Bureau of Caucazoidal Affairs”
blog.myspace.com/indigenousrednations
United Red Indigenous Nations (URIN) are proud to announce that it has bought the state of Wyoming from the whites and is throwing it open to Indian settlement. URIN bought Wyoming from three winos found wandering around near downtown Cheyenne. URIN decided the winos were the spokesmen for the white people of Wyoming. These winos promptly signed the “2007 Treaty of Cheyenne”, which was written in the Dakota “Sioux” language. Wyoming was purchased for one bottle of gin, two bottles of wine, and three cases of cheap beer.
Leonard Peltier, the new “Commissioner of Caucazoidal Affairs”, has announced the following new policies from his jail cell where he sits as a “prisoner of undeclared war” by the u.s. government for committing the act of “self defense” against attacking rookie FBI agents, in violation of the 1851 Treaty and the U.S. Constitution.
Indigenous Peoples are awarding four different land areas for which to “concentrate” the whites (but instead of calling them “concentration camps”, they will be called “reservations”), with each female, white, head of family getting one acre. Each reservation resident will get a specific “reservation number” and must use and meet stock-breeding blood quantification guidelines.
The “surplus” land left over (50% of the original reservation) will be opened up Indigenous Citizenry for homesteading purposes.
The reservations will be surveyed at the following locations:
Rez 1) Death Valley
Rez 2) The Utah Salt Flats
Rez 3) The Badlands of South Dakota
Rez 4) The Yukon in Alaska
These lands shall belong to the whites “for as long as the sun shines or the grass grows” (or until the Indians want it back). All land on the reservations, of course, will be held in trust for the whites by the “Bureau of Caucazoidal Affairs” (BCA), and any white who wants to use his land in any way must secure permission from Mr. Peltier.
Of course, whites will be allowed to sell trades and handicrafts at stands by the highway. Each white will be provided annually with one blanket, one pair of tennis shoes, a supply of Spam, and a copy of “Noble Red Man” and “Red Earth, White Lies.”
If a white man is competent enough, he will be able to be a BCA reservation superintendent. Applicants must have less than one year of education, must not speak English, must have an authoritarian personality, proof of dishonesty, and a certificate of incompetence. No whites need apply.
Commissioner Peltier also announced the founding of four boarding schools, to which white youngsters will be sent at the age of three. “We want to take those kids far away from the backward culture of their parents.” Peltier said.
The schools will be located at the following sites:
a) Alcatraz Island
b) Florida Everglades
c) Point Barrow, Alaska
d) Hong Kong
All courses will be taught in the Dakota language and there will be demerits for anyone caught speaking English. All students arriving at the school will immediately be given IQtests to determine their understanding of Indigenous Language and hunting skills. No student will be allowed to have “helmet-looking” short hair and eventually must wear their hair in neatly combed braids. When they first arrive at the schools, they will be doused with a mixture of turpentine and red paint in attempts to correct their skin tone while removing the various fungi and molds form the children’s inferior hides.
CHS Hospitals will be established for the reservations as follows: Whites at Death Valley may go to the Bangor, Maine Hospital; those at the Utah Salt Flats may go to Juneau, Alaska Hospital; those at the Yukon may go to the Miami Beach Hospital; and those at the Badlands may go to the Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. Each hospital will have a staff of two part-time doctors and a part-time chiropractor who have all passed first aid tests. Each CHS hospital will be equipped with a scalpel, a jack knife, a saw, a modern tourniquet, and a large bottle of aspirin.
Eventually, these CHS hospitals will be phased out once enough whites are relocated to the country and become good, self-sufficient hunters and once enough Indigenous men breed with enough non-indigenous white women in order to lower the white’s blood quantum levels.
In honor of the whites, many cities, landmarks, and commercial products will be given traditional white names, like hemorrhoid hill, genocide river, invasion valley, etc. Four school and sporting team mascots will be available to the whites for which to name their schools/teams, and are as follows:
1) The Imperialists
2) The Nazis
3) The Rapers
4) The Impotent Perverts
One famous Indian movie director, Chris Eyre, has announced that in his upcoming film, “Indians Punked Custer”, he will use many actual whites to play the parts of soldiers, speaking real English. The part of Custer, however, will be played by noted Indian actor, Wes Studi.
The barbaric white customs will, of course, not be allowed. Whites will not be allowed to practice their heathen religions (i.e., mass, church, xmas, easter bunny, etc.). They will, however, be required to attend Indigenous ceremonies and must respect Grand Mother Earth and Grand Father Sky. Missionaries will be sent from each Indigenous Red Nation to convert the whites on the reservations. White churches will either be made into amusement parks or museums or will be torn down and the bricks and ornaments sold as souvenirs and curiosities.

Pyramid Hierarchy System
The Pyramid Hierarchy System
The Root of All Evil
Ten thousand years ago, the Red, Black, White, Brown, and Yellow Race Peoples of the world lived in harmony with Nature naturally. The people gathered, hunted, and lived happily around the circle of their sacred fireplace. They lived as humans and knew the sacred Earth to be round, as evidenced by the annual lunar eclipses and the circle of life. They were without slavery, taxes, religion, god, government, domesticated “food” animals, money, or any control entity dictating onto them or causing them stress, anxiety, and dysfunction.
Then a man invented the Pyramid Hierarchy System (PHS). With the introduction of the Pyramid Hierarchy System of the “Four G’s” of “gold, greed, god, government”, communities were overtaken and their history altered and changed forever by those who now controlled and dictated over them. The domestication of animals and slavery was developed in order to create male-dominating systems (and their “cities”) that were controlled by a few; a king, leader, or president, so that those few individuals might acquire great wealth and power over their “working poor masses.”
Those masses first needed to be primed. They were fooled into thinking “gold” had a “value.” The religions were invented so that there was some sort of “punishing god” in the sky dictating “over” people. This paved the way so that the practice of exploiting the Natural World would become acceptable. PHS remains the basis for “eco-cide.”
Within the PHS system, anything “natural” was and is labeled as “wild” and is condemned as “barbaric, evil, or witchcraft.” Man-made, concocted religions teach that man has “dominance” over nature; that they were “better than” or superior to the sacred Natural Beings of the earth. This allows them destroy, kill, and exploit Nature at will – while sanctioned by the church and state.
Great Turtle Island – the Last Bastion of Democracy
By 1492, the harmonious ways of life of the world’s nations of people were primarily destroyed, save for the Indigenous Red “Indian” Nations of Great Turtle Island (misnomer “western hemisphere” by male-dominating “globe dividers”)
Their ancient ways remained in tact other than for the brief invasion a few thousand years back in what is now “Central America” by PHS “Boat People” who landed, befriended, then forced the Mayan and Incan peoples to build pyramids and temporarily adopt barbaric ways until the PHS forced away and the terrible remnants grown over by the forest foliage.
But the ancient Way of Life of the Nakota (misnomer "Sioux") Indigenous Red "Indian" Nation of the Northern Great Plains Region of Great Turtle Island continued unhampered until 1851. Community Talking Circles called “Oyate Omniciye” by the Nakota Nation represented the truest form of “democracy.” Women and men gathered in the camp and community center to discuss and take action upon a particular subject until unanimous consent was agreed upon and all were satisfied.
The Nakota have always lived upon the Great Plains Region and surrounding areas. Their Nakota Language proves their residency to over 60 million years, as evidenced through the use of the word “Sunka Wakan”, the “Mysterious Dog” or “Horse.” The Nakota witnessed Sunka Wakan “grow” from the small, three toed, herd prairie grazers millions of years ago, to the two-toed, larger animal, and into the hooved, full grown “horse” seen today. This is one reason why the Nakota are known as the world’s greatest horse trainers and riders. It is not because the “spanish brought the horse to america in the 1700’s” – a common stereotype misconception taught in public schools in racist attempts to discredit Nakota ancient existence.
The Nakota refer to Earth and Sky as Sacred. The Earth is the Nakota’s Grand Mother - that could never be disrespect or violated – a basic tenant lost in "book religions.” Grand Father Sky is home to the Wind, the Clouds, the Stars, the Sun and the Moon.
Very few Indigenous Red Nations have their true democracy manner of governing in tact after the “Great Dying” from 1492 – 1890. Chemical warfare (small pox infected blanket distribution), scalp bounties (settlers were offered $200 for an adult “Indian” male, $100 for women and $50 per Indigenous child), and military actions (mass murders, terrorism) were employed through the PHS devastatingly by pilgrim, settlers, and the u.s. government citizenry, military, and their colonizing government policy.
Nature Superior To Man
The female must be disrespected for today's “god/higher power” societies to continue their rape of the earth for the profit of a few greedy at the top of the PHS.
The Animals, Plants, Insects of the Natural World are our superiors - all good and perfect. The human role is to be thankful for all the good of Nature, never to be referred to as the “wild.” The great gifts of life that we must harvest each day to survive allows us to maintain happiness and joy.
The only “bad” lies in the bad thoughts and actions within the corrupted minds of the human being, as they unfortunately view the Natural World as an “enemy” or something to be controlled, exploited, or manipulated.
The reason and excuse for the invasion and occupation of Indigenous lands and resources by columbus’ gang beginning in 1492 was based upon the teachings of religion and carried out by those who claimed to believe in god’s “own words” - the man-written “bible.”
The “devil” concept was created by religious fanatics in order to scare people straight and coerce others into believing in the PHS. In effect worshipping a devil who lives near open “fire” in a place called “hell.” Of course with this idea, fire is bad and hell lies within the earth, which sanctions the exploitation of digging for gold, drilling for oil, gouging and raping the land. The earth, after all, is the home of the devil, anyways, represented by fire and “horns” – objects viewed as special or sacred to those humans who live naturally with the land and with Nature.
The Iraq debacle of the early 2000’s mirrors what happened to Indigenous Red “Indian” Nations and Peoples of Great Turtle Island from 1492 to the present, as well as what happened to the Germans, and Irish, Armenians, and all peoples of all colors of the world.
Exposing The Pyramid Hierarchy
The 1492 invasion followed with mass genocide and subsequent and ongoing theft by the u.s. government of the “Indian’s” Black Hills gold of over 9 trillion dollars which sits each day as stolen property in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
The 1851 Treaty Resource, Indigenous-owned “Wyoming” coal, is transported daily in hundred-car trains illegally across state lines, providing most of the electrical needs of millions of americans across the u.s. The electricity supplies lights, computers, televisions, communication systems, and industry - offering “free” electricity to “power” companies through their coal fire gasification (acid rain) plants while the owners remain impoverished and unpaid.
Trillions of dollars “worth” of other Indigenous-owned resources such as timber, tourism, and mining throughout 1851 Treaty Homelands, “supreme law” rights and resources that are supposed to be protected through Article VI of the United States Constitution.
The Ihanktunwan DaNakota “Yankton Dakota” Nation in southeast South Dakota are one of the few remaining Nations who continue to maintain and preserve true democracy through their Oyate Omniciye “General Council” meetings where men and women gather to discuss and take action on pressing issues of their nation. You can support the remnants of democracy by contacting the “Yankton Sioux Tribe” at (605) 384-3641 and ask them how you can help preserve this great and endangered Way of Life so that the last democracy is not exterminated from the face of Grand Mother Earth.
It is time to live and not just survive. It is the duty of all good humans to phase out the terrible Pyramid Hierarchy System and begin, once again, to respect, love, cherish, and be thankful for our superior, Nature - our sacred Grand Mother Earth.

Churchill Review
Ward Churchill Speaks
at Southwest Minnesota State University SMSU - March 28, 2007
Famed indigenous advocate, scholar, and human rights activist, Dr. Ward Churchill, will give a talk on Wednesday, March 28 at 7 p.m. in the second floor ballroom of the Conference Center at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU), Marshall, MN.
Churchill is a professor of Ethnic Studies and coordinator of American Indian Studies at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Churchill has garnered much publicity over the past several years for his outspokenness on some topics, most recently in 2005 for a 2001 essay in which he questioned the innocence of the many killed in the World Trade Center attacks.
Churchill has authored more than 20 books and over 150 essays. His work is mostly centered on historical mistreatment of political dissenters and the genocide of indigenous peoples by the government and citizenry of the u.s. He recently appeared in the documentary entitled “Canary Effect.”
An acclaimed public speaker and award-winning writer, Churchill is a member of the Governing Council of the Colorado chapter of the American Indian Movement. He is a past national spokesperson for the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee, and has served as a delegate to the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations.
His appearance is part of the “Difficult Dialogues” initiative at SMSU. The event is sponsored by SMSU, the Indigenous Nations & Dakota Studies program, and is funded by the Ford Foundation’s Difficult Dialogues Grant to the university.
Marshall, MN is located 50 minutes northeast of Sioux Falls, SD.

Editorial - Ward Churchill at SMSU: As difficult as it gets
http://www.marshallindependent.com/opinion/articles.asp?articleID=11174
Based on the title of the program alone, you knew this was not going to be easy sometimes. Wednesday night may be one of those times: As part of the Difficult Dialogue series, Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) is bringing the controversial Ward Churchill to campus for a speech at 7 p.m. in the Conference Center. It’s a little different than the speaker the night before: Former FBI agent Coleen Rowley, who talks Tuesday through the same Difficult Dialogues program, has earned national awards, while Churchill has earned scorn. The Difficult Dialogues program brings speakers and courses to SMSU through a $100,000 Ford Foundation grant aimed at building understanding and open discussion on some tough issues.Churchill, the Colorado professor, has mainly stirred skepticism and outrage with his comments after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — the kind of outrage that got him canceled at a small college in New York, the kind that got him talked about intensely in the national media. Why? Because, if not flat-out saying the 9/11 victims had it coming, Churchill has said we should not be surprised they were killed and suggested the World Trade Center was a logical target for a terror attack. You don’t make friends that way, and Churchill certainly has not. He’s been attacked by academics and pundits, not to mention families of the victims. He’s also been defended by some academics for his free-speech rights, which he certainly can exercise. But, of course, the First Amendment goes both ways: People have the right to protest Churchill or ignore him, too. His main rationale for his comments seems to be that the way America treats other countries and people around the world invited the attacks of 9/11 — that we’ve done our share of human rights abuses around the globe. We probably have. But to tie those abuses to the 9/11 attacks is insensitive and illogical. Our civilians should not have to die for the wrongs of our government; rather, our government should be held accountable through the democratic process.Churchill, though, is a lightning rod. Very candid, very bold, unafraid to challenge authority or convention. Yet, unlike Rowley’s determination to point to facts and hold her bosses in the FBI accountable, Churchill seems to lump a lot of groups under the same umbrella. For instance, in a public radio interview in February 2005, Churchill was asked if he thought the World Trade Center was an acceptable or legitimate target on 9/11.Part of his response: “Do I personally think it was a legitimate target or should have been a legitimate target? Absolutely not. And that's said on the basis of all but absolute rejection of and opposition to U.S. policy. “But what you have to understand, and what the listeners have to understand, is that under U.S. rules, it was an acceptable target,” he continued. “And the reason it was an acceptable target, if none other, was that because the C.I.A., the Defense Department, and other parts of the U.S. military intelligence infrastructure, had situated offices within it, and you'll recall that that is precisely the justification advanced by the Donald Rumsfelds of the world, the Norman Schwarzkopfs, and the Colin Powells of the world, to explain why civilian targets had been bombed in Baghdad. Because that nefarious Saddam Hussein had situated elements of his command and control infrastructure within otherwise civilian occupied facilities.”Even if you try to equate our military’s choices with those of Saddam, it’s impossible to justify the 9/11 deaths. And it’s hard to think he’ll get a warm welcome in rural Minnesota, a place that has sent hundreds of its soldiers to Iraq.Churchill has been accused of hate speech, heartlessness, of blaming Israel for the 9/11 attacks, of preventing others from exercising their own free speech. He’s also been the subject of dozens of reports by Fox’s Bill O’Reilly (make of that what you will). However you look at it, his speech Wednesday is bound to live up to the program’s title: A difficult dialogue indeed.

Response to Minnesota “Marshall Independent” newspaper editorial:
http://www.marshallindependent.com/opinion/articles.asp?articleID=11246
Regarding the March 26, 2007 Independent “Opinion Page” reference to Ward Churchill’s talk at SMSU, it is still amazing how the media seemingly continues to support a corrupt government and even more corrupt “war.” Keep in mind war was never “declared officially” by congress so that atrocities could take place outside of the Geneva Convention (Abu Ghraib, Guantanimo Bay, etc.).
Instead of embracing those who predict what everyone should have known about this misguided invasion/occupation, many – including democrats choose to admit their mistake of supporting the genocide now in Iraq. Also keep in mind the government gave Hussein the chemicals and propped him up when he supposedly “gassed the Kurds.”
The public should go ask intelligent questions and try to find out the wisdom Churchill may have to share with them. An open mind is a valuable resource in an often too closed-minded society. Thank Ward Churchill for bringing this to light when it wasn’t popular to do so.
Churchill Review
March 29, 2007
(API)
Controversial tenured University of Colorado at Boulder Professor, Ward Churchill, continued his high energy speaking tour with a recent stop at the Southern Minnesota State University campus in Marshall, Minn. On March 28, 2007. Over 150 students, faculty, and members of the public from as far away as White Earth, Minn. to Sioux City, Iowa came to hear the dynamic and eloquent speaker address the issue of world genocide – pointing a finger at and exposing the denial of the holocaust which occurred (and continues to occur) against Indigenous “American Indians” right here in the United States.
In 2001 just after the planes were flown into the world trade center in New York, City, Churchill explained in a paper that many corporations who violated mideast citizens rights to a government free form big oil and corporate and United States manipulation were housed in the “twin towers” – which might explain why the Arab “freedom-fighters” chose that target to send a message to America to stop meddling middle eastern affairs and oil fields.
This ignited a firestorm among far right wing republicans who supported and concocted the “war” (a war was never officially “declared” against Iraq by the government, many feel so that the United States could skirt Geneva Convention “war rules” prohibiting torture and illegal detention).
Efforts were carried out – and are ongoing - to remove Churchill from his professorship in Boulder based upon his thoughts and writings on the 911 incident and he remains steadfast to expose the Iraq and mideast debacle present and past presidential administrations have put the American people in.
On hand for the event were numerous professors, an Ojibwe Spiritual Advisor, from the White Earth Reservation in northern Minnesota, and Scott C. Barta, Ihanktunwan DaNakota (Yankton Dakota “Sioux”) of Sioux City, Iowa, founder of 1851Treaty.com and the Morning Glory Foundation.
The SMSU event lasted well over four hours long – many feeling that even a Bill Clinton or George W. Bush speaking event could’ve held listeners that long, with Churchill sitting down among the die-hard crowd towards the closing of the historic learning experience, revealing his grass roots and “hard truth/cold facts” style which makes him such a sought-after presenter.

Indigenous Men Make NHL All-Star "First Team"
Indigenous Men Named To Professional Hockey League
“All-Star Game” in Dallas
Cheechoo Named All-Star Starter January 9, 2007
The San Jose Sharks will have a third of the starters for the Western Conference in the 2007 NHL All-Star game in Dallas on January 24. Both Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo were selected by the fans in online balloting and will start on the "first string, first line" for the Western Team. It is another level of respect for Sharks hockey that the two were recognized by fans across North America and Europe. “For Cheech and I to be voted on by the fans, you tip your hat to them,” said Thornton. “You are either being selected by the fans or the coaches, so it's a good honor.” Thornton, whose three previous All-Star appearances were all with Boston, is making his first appearance as a Shark.
Cheechoo, who played in the NHL’s 2004 Young Stars Game, will be making his All-Star debut at the NHL level, although he did play in the 2001 AHL All-Star event. Cheechoo is an Indigenous Cree from Moose Factory, Ontario, CA and last year received the "Maurice 'Rocket' Richard" Trophy for most goals (Cheechoo had 56) scored by an NHL player during the season.“I knew I was in the running and my Coach, Ron Wilson told me I was in,” said Cheechoo. “It is a pretty neat feeling. You respect that the fans voted you into the All-Star Game. I’m just going to enjoy it and go have some fun.” Cheechoo knows he may have to come up with a few hard to come by tickets. “About seven (family members) were down for Christmas and 10 went to the NHL Awards Ceremony and that wasn’t even to watch hockey,” said Cheechoo. “I appreciate being with my teammates,” said Thornton. “This year it will be Cheech and probably Patty Marleau.” “It just shows how good our fans are and that we have Sharks fans all over - and there’s a lot of family,” laughed Marleau. “I definitely would want to go and be part of it. I think both Joe and Cheech deserve it.”
Cheechoo Highlights: 2005-06: Became the first Shark to win the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, awarded to the NHL’s annual goal-scoring leader (56)… Led the League in game-winning goals (11 — Sharks record), home-ice goals (31) and divisional goals (29) and T-2nd in power play goals (24 — Sharks record)...Received the PlayStation "Sharks Three Stars of the Year" Award…Named the Seagate Technology "Sharks Player of the Month" for November and January…First player to record five or more hat tricks in one season since Mario Lemieux had six in 1995-96. Only member of Moose Cree First Nations to sign an NHL contract...Father taught him how to skate when he was two...Hometown is located 500 miles north of Toronto on an island that’s roughly five square miles and sits in the Moose River at the southern tip of Hudson Bay...When he was 12, for a school assignment, he wrote that he wanted to play for the Sharks in 2002 (he received a Sharks jacket as a gift).

Souray’s in! Hard-shooting defenseman cracks All-Star Game starting lineup
MONTREAL – The people spoke and the NHL listened. Sheldon Souray will be packing his bags for the 55th annual NHL All-Star Game in Dallas on January 24 where he will be a starter on the Eastern Conference blue line.
Souray is an Indigenous “Metis First Nations” man from Elk Point, Alberta, CA
Thanks to a total of 534,647 votes, Souray will be making his second All-Star appearance, having also earned an invite in 2004. Souray joins Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin of the Capitals, and Buffalo’s Daniel Briere, Brian Campbell and Ryan Miller in the starting lineup for the East.
“To be recognized by the fans just makes it all the more special,” said Souray, the only Eastern starter with an All-Star game already under his belt. “I’m especially proud to get the chance to represent the Montreal Canadiens again. That means a lot.”
His coach couldn’t be happier for his power-play quarterback.
“I think is just awesome news for Sheldon and he’s earned it,” said head coach Guy Carbonneau. “If you ask guys like Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Ray Bourque, sure they would have enjoyed the extra few days off, but playing in an All-Star game is a great learning experience and a chance to play with the best players in the world.”
Once Souray hits the ice in Dallas he will also become the first defenseman to represent the Canadiens at multiple All-Star games since Chris Chelios skated on the Wales Conference blue line in both 1985 and 1990.
“This isn’t about me, it’s more about the team and the success we’ve had this year,” added Souray. “There’s a bunch of guys in this room who deserve to be going as well. This is a team thing and I’m going to share it with them because they’re a huge part of my success this year.”
That success has seen Souray explode for 14 goals to lead all NHL defensemen, leaving him only one shy of his career-high of 15 set in 2003-04.
In his NHL All-Star debut in 2004 in Minnesota, Souray picked up an assist on Ilya Kovalchuk’s insurance goal in the third period that helped seal a 6-4 win for the Eastern Conference. He also tied Adrian Aucoin in the hardest shot competition with a blast clocked at 102.2 mph.
That week, Souray openly admitted to thinking he would likely never again get the opportunity play in an All-Star game. He was wrong and Souray may have his No. 1 fan to thank for that.
“My mom has been sitting by her computer non-stop for the last little while, so maybe now she can finally get some sleep,” said Souray. “Who knows maybe she’s been voting all this time and ended up being the difference maker.”'

Apocalypto Review
Clarifying Apocalypto
December 15, 2006
The new movie "Apocalypto" did not recognize the fact that the ‘first wave’ of “invaders" to Great Turtle Island (misnomer “western hemisphere”) was over 2,500 years ago - the original "pyramid builders" from the mideast who traveled and traversed the oceans in large ships, spreading and inflicting their male dominating, "pyramid hierarchy" system upon the innocent communities and nations in their path.
Between four and five thousand years ago, Egyptians and/or other north African and mideast cultures began the process of "pyramid making" to contribute to the previously concocted "god" concept which swept humankind beginning ten thousand years ago with the invention of money and the use of domesticated animals. Many tens of thousands of people were “conned” (religious fervor) into building the pyramids and some are thought to have been enslaved.
After the pyramid process was ‘perfected’, the “leaders” transported their confusion across the Big Water to land among Red Nations along the equator, such as the Inca, Mayan, and Aztec. Had slavery been employed in the pyramid construction process – which remains disputed, the Indigenous Red Nations and Peoples of the central regions of Great Turtle Island were prime subjects for slavery, as those humans living in equatorial tropics are more susceptible to enslavement, while “northerners” – or those human beings who face death by freezing each winter, are virtually impossible to manage into slavery.
After neighboring Red Nations finally had enough of the “pyramid savagery” and “uncivilization” however, the invaders were repelled and the pyramids left to rot and were grown over by local vegetation. Indigenous Red Nations and Peoples of the area were allowed to “rest” for a while – until the next wave, the Spanish conquistadors, came to once again disrupt and destroy nature and those who live in harmony with it.
Although the accurate historical facts are not mentioned in the movie “Apocalypto” the film is greatly directed by Mel Gibson (actor in “Brave Heart” and director of “Passion of Christ”). It compares to “Dances With Wolves” in cinematography and “Brave Heart” in its epic proportions.
Other than not mentioning the accurate and hidden history of the area, thereby allowing stereotypes of the viewing audience to continue within their minds, the movie “Apocalypto” may prove to be award-winning, with tremendous action scenes and a cast of brilliant and beautiful indigenous “Red Peoples” – actual “Indians” of the central areas of Great Turtle Island, fully able to out-act any of today’s “Hollywood stars.”

american Tragedy Petition
american Tragedy
Not since the murderous quest for Vietnamese off-shore oil and inland rubber trees (paid for by tax dollars to Michelin tire company after american napalm strafing and soldier recording under fire) and the genocidal theft of Lakota ("Sioux") gold from their sacred Black Hills ($9 trillion which now sits in Fort Knox yet to be returned to the 1851 Treaty landholders) has a greater tragedy enveloped the american people.
Rumsfeld firing only reveals the updated administration's desire to maintain in Iraq until all oil wells are depleted - despite the hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi lives again to be sacrificed and the countless american troops soon to die for the greedy quest for mideast oil.
It is time america left the killing fields and instead paid fair market value from whoever of the Arab or Persian people controls mideast oil fields. Stop the genocide for oil. Stop the waste of tax dollars for big oil.
